The medical students’ association of Rwanda is an independent, non-governmental and non-political organ of medical students of Rwanda .It was founded in 1997 and is run for and by medical students on a non-profit basis .It is officially recognized of the national university of Rwanda .Is a no-governmental organization (NGO), MEDSAR works within NURSU (National University of Rwanda Students Union) which is the general association of students at the National University Of Rwanda. Now the association accounts around 630 members.

MEDSAR is a member of the international federation of medical students’ associations (IFMSA, www.ifmsa.org )
